Suspects Arrested in Sexual Assault: 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW (Washington, DC)- The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that an arrest has been made in a sexual assault which occurred on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, in the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW. On Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at approximately 3:56 am, an adult female was leaving a New Year’s Eve party with two known male acquaintances. The suspects led the victim to a secluded area in a parking garage in the 1700 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW where she was sexually assaulted by both acquaintances. On January 4, 2013, 21 year-old Nicholas Shultz and 26 year-old Matthew Maldonado both of Clinton, Maryland, were arrested and charged with Second Degree Sexual Assault.
