Rehabilitation of K St., Mass Avenue & H St. Bridges

I-395 Air Rights Tunnel Work: Last week’s night work in the southbound and northbound tunnels to remove the stone fascia was completed in a timely manner and no issues occurred. K Street Update: Both drivers and pedestrians appear to have acclimated to the traffic changes on the 200 block of K Street, NW. Special thanks to the public transportation providers for working with us to accommodate school buses and Metro Access transport vehicles. We are working closely with the adjacent K Street Streetscape contractor to ensure continued smooth transition of traffic patterns. For weekly progress detail, please open the attached report for summary and photos. Two-Week Look-ahead H and Second Streets: The contractor will continue installing sidewalk on 2nd Street between H and Massachusetts Avenue. On Monday, 6/18/12 new curbs and gutters will be installed at 2nd and H Streets, NW. H Street and Massachusetts Avenue: During the week of 6/18 and 6/25/12, we will continue to demo the bridge joints and sidewalks on H Street and Massachusetts Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets, NW. K Street: As we continue in Stage I on K Street, the contractor will begin to install new bridge joints beginning Tuesday, 6/19/12. In keeping with DDOT traffic regulation, one lane of traffic is maintained at all times in each direction during construction. Traffic and pedestrians are urged to follow the modified traffic patterns or consider an alternate route while this important work is completed. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
